When the disciples make the mistake of confusing the Fall of Jerusalem with the return of Christ, Jesus warns them "Do not be deceived," and proceeds to explain that these are very different--and in some ways opposite--events. He urges them not to be distracted from their mission but to endure unto the end. Their mistake continues to be made today, with the very result that Jesus warned against: believers being distracted from mission by obsession about predicting the end.
